With profiles drawn from the collections of the Library of Congress, these Knowledge Cards pay tribute to 48 inspiring women who have exhibited the courage and determination to reach beyond society’s expectations. Working in such varied disciplines as science, the performing arts, literature, sports, and politics—often braving seemingly insurmountable barriers because of their gender in the process—the women profiled in this deck share the passion and drive, the insight and endurance, to make deep and lasting contributions in their respective fields. Each card features a portrait on one side, with a brief biography on the other.
