Can anyone outrun their past?

On a mountain road in the Balkans, former Olympic cyclist Heather Bishop and her journalist boyfriend Richard race each other for fun. But when Richard disappears around a bend in the road, Heather cycles after him only to find that Richard has disappeared.

Her increasingly desperate search for him leads Heather into Richard's dark past, and that of the Balkans itself. The only man willing to help her is Simo Suboti?, a once influential cop whose insubordination has triggered a helter-skelter career slide into obscurity in the border town where Heather and Richard had been staying.

The Bone Road lifts the curtain on the Balkans and explores not only conflicted characters whose pasts catches up with them but also how intergenerational trauma can be passed down not just through families but entire communities.
